Taiyou-Con was last weekend and I had an absolute blast at this convention! Our newest panels, “Salute to Fanservice” and “Waifu-ism and You” were huge successes and we had loads and loads of fun with everyone who turned out for this convention! Everyone was enlightened with Brian’s BAYMAN story and we even got to meet Cristina Vee, Lauren Landa and Sonny Strait. I even got my chest signed by Chris Guerrero (poor guy never signed anyone’s boobs before and I agreed to change that)! Big, BIG thanks to the guests who were willing to answer our questions and take pics with us!
If you missed us at Taiyou, (while it’s not officially confirmed) me and the others are planning to attend Con-nichiwa this March. However in the meantime, you can watch our Youtube videos on our channel and like us on Facebook. Also, make sure to check out Brian’s (IRONHOOF) blog “Lost in the Overworld” for even more content in between our convention appearances. Once again, big thanks to Taiyou-Con for having us hold panels, Cristina Vee, Chris Guerrero, Lauren Landa and Sonny Strait for the great memories, and especially you guys out there who come to our panels. Without you, we’d just be four guys sitting in a room for hours at a time just talking to ourselves!
Hakumen is one of my favorite characters now after this! [More badass version here]
The trailer for Fate/Zero finally had a trailer released for everyone to see on the internet. While not much is really shown, there’s still just enough to get fans of the franchise excited! The video can be viewed here!
Last night, Sankaku Complex announced that the anime, Toradora! was going to be getting not only a new blu-ray box set sometime in the not-too-distant future, but a brand new OVA. The OVA is a continuation of the story, however fan are speculating what the OVA will have, especially with one of the possible endings you get with the PSP visual novel release of the game.
Toradora! is based off of a light novel about a couple of students, each known for having a bad reputation in school, who starts off on bad terms with one another until they come to learn that each one of them is in love with the other’s best friend. So they make a deal to try to set each other up with their respective crush in anyway they can and with comedic results.
It’s a hilarious romantic comedy and you can actually find the first few episodes available on ANN for free. I highly recommend giving this show a chance so when the OVA comes out, you’ll be ready. The show originally came out back in 2008, but NIS had gotten the license to the show for an American release just last year.
California gets all of the cool anime movie theater releases! It’s not fair!!
ANN posted that an announcement was made by the Aniplex of America, stating that there will be a public viewing of Kara no Kyokai at VIZ cinema in San Fransisco, CA on February 5th. The first, second and seventh (finale) movies are scheduled to be viewed just days before the American Box set release of all eight movies on February 8th. All three of the movies will be in their original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles like the blu-ray releases. As of now there are still no word as to whether or not an english dub track is planned for the future.
The eighth movie included in this box set is the never before seen epilogue that will be released with the box set and will set Type-Moon fans back roughly $400! Click here if you want more information about the theater showing in California so that you can experience something phenomenal.
Finally, after a year of waiting, the fans will finally be getting more Baka Test! An OVA of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu will be released one month from now. It’s scheduled to be a two part OVA, the first OVA will be released on February 23rd while the next will be out exactly one month later on March 23rd on Blu-ray and DVD.
For those of you who don’t know, Baka Test is a show that takes place in a high school where they divide the student body into Classes A-F. Class A are the schools top elite students where Class F students [the main characters] are at the bottom of the barrel. The accommodations for each class are directly proportionate to each level, to the point where Class F desks are just old boxes from the cafeteria. However, if a class doesn’t want to remain in their terrible classrooms, they can challenge a class higher than them in a battle with these mini-avatars called Summoned Beasts who’s power levels are directly proportionate to their grades in certain subjects. If schools actually operated even remotely close to this, I bet you that more students would take their studies WAY more seriously.
Now a link is available to the OVA site here, but unless you know Japanese, you’re going to have a hard time getting anything meaningful from that site other than the dates that were provided before, so here’s the wiki for the show.
It was announce several months ago that there was plans for a new Berserk anime adaptation, but today some more light has finally been shed on exactly how. Very much like Hellsing Ultimate, Berserk is now going to be made into a series of animated movies. Hopefully this means that the new anime will feature EVERYTHING from the on-going manga [though that’s going to be hard considering that it hasn’t even finished yet, so original content is possible]
The original anime came out over 10 years ago. While it was pretty good for it’s time, going back now it looks seriously dated. In a world where everything under the sun [i.e. movies, TV shows and video games] gets a remake, Berserk is LONG overdue for one. More announcements will DEFINITELY be available once they surface.
A new trailer for the second season of Kämpfer, now called Kämpfer: Für die Liebe [If ANYONE would like to pronounce that for us, it’d be much appreciated] was released today and it looks like it’s gonna have even more gratuitous amounts of
…ahem…action…y’know, as a service for the fans of the series, a kind of ‘fanservice’ if you will. From the looks of it [some people did have doubts] it indeed WILL be a direct continuation from the first season, which is good considering the way the way the first season kind of just…ended without giving any answers [although we DID get a very bizarre Christmas(?) episode] You can view the trailer here.
